Faith formation in the Christian faith and United Methodist traditions is a vital part of our church's mission. We are dedicated to ministry with families and children in the following ways:

- Acolytes - A Wonderful opportunity for children 2nd grade and up to help lead during worship
- Presentation of Bibles - Each year Bibles are presented to children in the 2nd and 3rd grades

Safe Sanctuary
We are a congregation committed to the United methodist Safe Sanctuary program that provides boundaries and safeguards for both children, youth and adults. There will be a second adult during all scheduled children's ministries, and any adult who works with children in these ministries has voluntarily submitted to a screening and has passed a background check. A safe and nurturing children's ministry is a priority at SIUMC.
