SIUMC’s Missions Ministry is part of our Council on Ministries. The Missions Committee operates in accordance with established criteria for distribution of church money to programs, and committee members give considerable thought to each distribution.  We want to be certain that the money our church gives is dedicated to “helping others to help themselves” and meets our goal of Christian outreach to people who are at risk.

To apply for funding, a person from the requesting agency must complete an application form and include any relevant materials to help the Committee in the decision process. In addition, they may be asked to meet with the Committee to review the request and answer any questions.

Committee members are appointed at the annual Charge Conference and serve for a period of 3 years. The committee reports in our church’s Charge Conference document, as well as in our annual Missions Donations brochure. We feel that our church has been able to support a number of worthy projects; and collaboration with recipient agencies is creating new opportunities for members of our congregation to share their time and talent, in addition to their treasure.
