I’d like to encourage you to participate in the Disciple 1 Bible Study that Pastor Rob will be leading in January. Disciple Bible Study is one of my favorite studies because of its comprehensive look at God’s word. I have led this study multiple times and each time gained new insights to scripture. One of our church members who previously participated in Disciple shared that going through the study was like putting on glasses for the first time; her understanding of God’s word became so much clearer. I wanted to share a few details with you about the study so that you can prayerfully consider participating in January.

Often, Bible studies dig deep into just one book of the Bible or focus on a single topic; Disciple is unique because it offers an overview of the whole Bible, both Old and New Testaments, so that participants can gain an understanding of how all of scripture is interconnected. Participants commit to a time of daily study and reading (typically 30 minutes daily) as well as a weekly group gathering.

Disciple draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible. Participants will have a workbook with daily scripture passages and additional reading resources. Pastor Rob has led Disciple previously and is preparing now to lead this new session. An introductory session will be held on Tuesday, January 4th at 9:30 am at the church.

The full Disciple study is 34 weeks. We anticipate offering the first “semester” from January to May and then the second “semester” in the fall months. If you are interested in participating but Tuesday mornings do not work for you, please let me know; if we have enough interest, we will consider a second Disciple group another day of the week.
